Mr. Klaassen founded Sunrise Assisted Living with his wife, Teresa, in 1981. He has served as chairman and chief executive officer of Sunrise since the company's inception. He is the founding chairman and a director of the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA). Mr. Klaassen serves as a director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and The National Chamber Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of The Hudson Institute, The Institute for American Values, The Ethics and Public Policy Center, The Trinity Forum and on the Advisory Committee for the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard University Medical School. Mr. Klaassen also serves as the President of the Netherland-America Foundation. |
