Dr. Lea joined Cangen as a Project Manager for Clinical Operations. Dr. Lea comes to Cangen from the biotechnology industry where he served as Director of Research Operations of New Health Sciences Inc. Prior to moving to industry, Dr. Lea served as a faculty member in the Department of Neuroscience at Georgetown University where he also completed his postdoctoral training. He received a Ph.D. in Physiology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and a M.S. in Biology from Villanova University. He is first author of a number of peer-reviewed scientific publications, including one book chapter and multiple reviews, is a member of the Society for Neuroscience and the American Physiological Society, and has served as a reviewer for both multiple peer-reviewed journals and NIH grants. He has over 15 years experience in leadership/management and scientific based research. Dr. Lea served as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1989 until his Honorable Discharge in 1995. His awards include various institutional and society awards, an Epilepsy Foundation Fellowship Award, the Army Achievement Medal, the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award, the Medal of the Order of Cincinnati, the Knights of Columbus Leadership and Patriotism Award, the American Legion Scholastic Excellence Award and the Eagle Scout Bronze Palm. |
