Dr. Paul Johnston is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Principal Engineer at Exponent. Dr. Johnston specializes in structural and geotechnical engineering. His structural expertise is in failure analysis of mechanical components and structures such as pipelines pumps valves diesel engines and offshore platforms subjected to static and dynamic loads. Dr. Johnston's geotechnical expertise is in the behavior of buried structures soil-structure interaction tunnels excavations slope stability and earthquake response. He has written two books in the area of finite element analysis. Dr. Johnston holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and is a registered professional civil engineer in the state of California. |
