Paul Allen has served as chief executive of the CPA and advisory firm now known as Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C. since 1987. His prior accounting and leadership experience includes two years as managing partner of the Wichita branch of the national firm KPMG (formerly KMG Main Hurdman), before AGH's founding members determined they could serve the Kansas region more effectively by creating Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C. as a locally based and owned firm serving the middle-market organizations in the Midwest.
Paul Allen has held leadership positions within KPMG and then Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C. for more than 30 years. Allen serves as a consultant in the accounting and auditing area, specializing in serving the middle-market, closely-held businesses and entrepreneurial enterprises. Allen serves commercial clients primarily in the manufacturing, construction and distribution industries. In addition to traditional services, he has extensive background in business mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, financial structuring and in business performance structuring. He is also a certified fraud examiner.
A native Kansan, Allen holds a bachelor of business administration degree from Wichita State University. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, Construction Finance Management Association, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and the Institute of Management Accountants. Allen has served the accounting industry in a variety of ways, including terms as president of the Wichita chapters of the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants. He has been a member of the Kansas Board of Accountancy since 1996 and has served three terms as chairman of the board. Allen was appointed to the board by former Kansas governor Bill Graves and current governor Kathleen Sebelius. He has been active at the board and officer level of numerous civic and professional organizations, including service as past chairman of the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the Wichita State University Alumni Association, and the Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau. |
