Paul Galant is Chief Executive Officer of Global Transaction Services (GTS) a division of Citi Markets & Banking. He is a member of the Citigroup Management Committee and the Markets & Banking Planning and Management Committee. Global Transaction Services is one of Citigroup�s twelve publicly reported product lines offering award-winning and industry-leading Cash Management Trade Services and Finance and Securities and Fund Services capabilities to corporations governments financial institutions and investment advisors worldwide.. With a network spanning more than 100 countries the business processes more than $3 trillion in payments daily and handles more than one billion transactions annually. It holds on average $189 billion in liability balances under administration and $10.4 trillion in assets under custody and trust and has the world's largest commercial letter of credit portfolio whose value exceeded $7 billion in 2006.
Prior to this he was the Global Head of the Cash Management business one of the largest processors of cash flows globally covering all geographic regions including North America and Latin America Europe the Middle East Africa and Asia Pacific. Under Paul�s leadership the Cash Management business experienced strong growth and a significant improvement in its operating performance. It was also recognized for innovation and excellence by many publications including Euromoney The Banker and Global Finance.
Before this Paul was Global Head of eCommerce and Market Data Strategy for Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking now Citi Markets & Banking. Paul and his team set strategic direction and coordinated execution of eCommerce initiatives; advised on eCommerce alliances consortia and joint ventures; set market data strategy managed market data relationships and developed global agreements that generated cost savings allowed greater distribution and leveraged purchased content and functionality.
His previous positions before joining Citigroup were with Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette as Global Head of Ecommerce and Financial Engineering within Debt Capital Markets where he was also a Management Committee member; with both Smith Barney and CSFB heading Financial Engineering Divisions; and with BTP Information Services Inc.as President and Founder.
Paul holds a B.A. from Cornell University where he graduated as a Phillip Merrill Scholar. He was featured in Treasury & Risk Management�s Top 100 People in Finance (2003) by Crain�s New York Business as a member of its 40 Under 40 (2006) by Global Finance as a member of their Who�s Who in Treasury and Cash Management (2006) and by CNBC as a "Young Gun" in its "Five under 40" profile (2006). He serves as a member on the NY Weill Cornell Medical Center Council.
