Pedro Pizarro is senior vice president of Power Procurement for Southern California Edison (SCE). His responsibilities include overseeing the procurement of conventional and renewable power contracts, resource planning, and the management and dispatch of SCE�s overall power resource portfolio. He also oversees Edison Carrier Solutions, a division of SCE that provides wholesale broadband services to telecommunications carriers.
Pizarro joined Edison International, SCE's parent company, in 1999 as director of Strategic Planning. He was elected vice president of Technology Business Development in 2000, and moved to SCE as vice president of Strategy & Business Development and general manager of Edison Carrier Solutions in 2001. He was elected vice president of Power Procurement on January 1, 2004, and was elected to his current position on May 1, 2005.
Prior to Edison, Pizarro was a senior engagement manager with McKinsey & Company in Los Angeles. He provided management consulting services to energy, technology, engineering services and banking clients. He developed corporate strategy, handled mergers and acquisitions, instituted performance improvement processes, and addressed operational and organizational issues.
Pizarro serves on the boards of the House Ear Institute and the Colburn School of Performing Arts.
Pizarro earned a bachelor's degree (magna cum laude) in chemistry from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in chemical physics from Caltech. He held National Science Foundation and Department of Defense graduate fellowships. |
