PJ is a Partner in Major, Lindsey & Africa's Los Angeles office, having been there since its inception. In January 2007 she became the firm's Co-Global Practice Leader for the In-House Practice, as part of the team overseeing the strategic development of the firm's corporate practice on a worldwide basis. Prior to this promotion, from January 2004 until January 2007, she also headed the In-House Practice Group for Southern California, managing a regional team of recruiters and business developers. PJ's recruiting practice is nationwide and focuses primarily on conducting senior level/General Counsel searches on behalf of corporate law departments in a wide range of industries.
PJ, who was born and raised in New York City, has lived in the South Bay area of Southern California since 1987. She received her B.A. degree in political science, French and international relations, magna cum laude, from the University of Rochester in 1983, and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. PJ earned her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1987, where she was elected managing editor and was one of the founders of the University of Chicago Legal Forum. In 1993 she earned her M.B.A. in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from UCLA's Anderson School, taking 1st place in the Venture Capital Competition (for the honor of representing UCLA at the National Moot Corp Competition in Austin, Texas).
From 1987 to 1990, PJ practiced in the Corporate Department of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher's Los Angeles office and served on the Hiring Committee. In 1992, she co-founded the publishing company, First Base Sports, Inc. and has written and edited more than a dozen books about team sports. Most recently she established Kozmo.com's Los Angeles operations where, as vice president/general manager, she hired, trained and managed a staff of 600. Since leaving the practice of law, PJ has worked with a number of startup and technology firms, advising on areas such as marketing, operations, business development, corporate strategy, leadership, HR and recruiting for the past 18 years. PJ is also fluent in French and has traveled extensively around the world. |
