Dr. Per-Kristian (Kris) Halvorsen is the chief technology officer and senior vice president of Intuit. He is responsible for Intuit�s central engineering organization and the product development community for the whole company. Prior to joining Intuit in 2006 Halvorsen was vice president and center director at HP Labs where he started the innovation activities in support of HP's services business and grew them to comprise four laboratories in the United States and Europe. Halvorsen also led the effort to establish HP Labs India and China.
From 1983 through 2000 Halvorsen was at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (Xerox PARC) where he was the founding director of the Information Sciences and Technologies Lab. Under his direction the lab became a leading center for research on the fundamental forces driving the evolution of the Internet.
Halvorsen is a member of the board of directors of Finn a leading European online classified advertising company headquartered in Norway. He is also a member of the advisory board of Cyber College at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He has served on the board of directors of Symantec and FinnTech and on the United States� National Academy of Sciences Committee on Internet Navigation and the Domain Name System.
Halvorsen holds a PhD in linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin. He did postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been a professor at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Oslo and a consulting professor at Stanford University. |
