Peter primarily focuses on corporate succession planning, estate planning and tax law. He counsels clients on estate and succession planning with a focus on the reduction of estate, gift and generation skipping transfer taxes and matters of wealth transfer among generations. Peter�s clients are business owners, from small businesses to Fortune 500 corporations, and individuals. He regularly represents fiduciaries in probate and estate administration matters. Peter has represented tax-exempt hospitals, health care providers, community foundations and private foundations in formation, qualification and transactional matters. In tax matters, he has worked with donors in complex tax-advantaged charitable gifts in excess of $60 million. He also has experience in taxation matters pertaining to corporate acquisitions; formation and funding of �S� corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies; like kind exchanges; and tax appeals and litigation. In 2007, Peter was recognized as an Ohio State Bar Association Board Certified Specialist in Federal Taxation Law. He is a member of the American and Ohio Bar Associations and the Cleveland Bar Association Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law Section; member and former director of the Cleveland Tax Club; and chair of the Cleveland Bar Association General Tax Committee. Peter is a member of Magnificat High School�s Development and Planned Giving Committee, and the Diocese of Cleveland Foundation�s Professional Advisory Council. He speaks regularly at tax seminars, including the Cleveland Tax Institute and the Cleveland State and Local Tax Institute. Peter was formerly at Kahn Kleinman and joined Calfee in 2006. |
