Peter Cardinal is Executive Vice-President, Latin America. Based in Toronto, Peter is responsible for Scotiabank's Latin American operations, and oversees the Spanish-speaking countries in the Caribbean and Central America. He is also Chairman of Grupo Financiero Scotiabank Inverlat, S.A., based in Mexico, a position he has held since 1999.
Peter joined Scotiabank in 1964, and has held posts of increasing responsibility in Retail and Commercial Banking and Commercial Credit in Canada, and in International Banking. He was Manager of the main branch in Montreal, and was appointed the first Vice-President and Manager of the new Scotia Plaza main branch in Toronto in 1987. Prior to joining Inverlat in 1996, he was Senior Vice-President, Canadian Commercial Banking, since 1992. This background, combined with Peter�s direct experience in leading our business in Mexico, will help strengthen our future growth in Latin America and in the Spanish-speaking regions of the Caribbean.
Peter is a Certified General Accountant, and attended the University of Western Ontario's Management Development program. In 2004, Peter was named a Fellow of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada, in recognition of the contributions he has made to the association, the profession and the community at large.
Peter and his wife, Marilyn, have two daughters. |
