Peter D. McDonald is executive vice president and chief operating officer of UAL Corporation and United Airlines, its principal subsidiary company. He is based at the company�s worldwide headquarters in suburban Chicago.
Named to this position in May 2004, he has responsibility for all airport operations, maintenance and engineering, onboard service, flight operations and system operations control, as well as cargo, Ted, United Express, cost-savings initiatives and safety and security. McDonald joined United Airlines in 1969.
Prior to assuming his current position, McDonald served as executive vice president-Operations. Before assuming that position in October 2002, McDonald served as senior vice president-Airport Operations, with responsibility for on-time performance, passenger processing, baggage handling and aircraft appearance for United's worldwide system. McDonald also was vice president-Operational Services, and previously served as managing director-Southern California. In that position, he was responsible for all of United's profitability, sales revenues, reservations, ticket offices and airport operations in Southern California. He also served as United's general manager-Hub Operations at Denver and oversaw the transition to the newly built Denver International Airport.
McDonald is a member of the board of directors of Children's Memorial Hospital and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. |
