From division headquarters in Greater Miami, Peter J. Dolara, as Senior Vice President-Miami, Caribbean and Latin American, heads a region that is the largest operating unit in the American Airlines system. It includes major connecting hubs in Miami and San Juan and 51 destinations in the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Mexico.
Under Dolara�s leadership, the Miami hub has become the largest international gateway in American�s network, with more than 9,000 employees and daily nonstop service to virtually every major business and vacation market throughout Latin America, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Dolara is responsible for all aspects of American�s operations in the Caribbean and Latin America, including airport operations, sales activities, customer service, cargo sales and services, route-selection and scheduling activities.
Dolara was New York Reservations Manager for Trans Caribbean Airways when the company was acquired by American in 1971. Joining American in that transaction, Dolara held numerous sales positions and was Sales Manager for American�s Eastern Division, based in New York City, when he was promoted to Vice President-Atlantic/Caribbean and New York City Sales in March 1984. He was promoted to Senior Vice President in October 1989 and moved to Greater Miami in 1992.
A native of Uruguay, Dolara was educated there and received a diploma in social work from the government of Uruguay.
