Peter Bowler was named President of American Eagle Airlines in September 1998. He was named Chief Executive Officer in 2006.
Bowler joined American in 1984 and has held a variety of staff and line positions in sales, marketing, human resources, and information technology.
At Eagle, Bowler has overseen the integration of three stand-alone airlines to form one of the world�s largest regional airlines, operating more than 300 regional aircraft on a network covering the United States, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico with more than 1,800 daily departures. American Eagle carries in excess of 20 million customers annually and generates approximately $2.4 billion in onboard customer revenue in addition to connecting 10 million customers and associated revenue to American Airlines� flights. Eagle�s 12,000 employees perform every major airline operations, planning, administrative and sales function, while relying on American Airlines to perform most marketing, pricing and treasury functions.
During his tenure Bowler has led the acquisition and integration of Business Express Airlines, the purchase and integration of more than 230 regional jets, the negotiation of labor agreements with each of Eagle�s three unions and the improvement of every major performance metric. Bowler also sits on the American Airlines Executive Committee, which meets weekly to set policy and direction for American Airlines. Bowler reports to AMR CEO and Chairman, Gerard Arpey.
Bowler holds Bachelor and Masters Degrees from St. Francis Xavier University and Queens University in Canada, and an MBA Degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business in the United States. Bowler is a member of the Board of Directors for the Dallas Metropolitan YMCA, The Regional Airline Association (former Chairman), and The Montserrat Foundation. Bowler is a member of the Board of Governors of St. Francis Xavier University, where he chairs the Finance Committee and serves on the Executive Committee.
