Peter M. von Dyck Founder, Chairman and CEO Peter M. von Dyck is the founder, chairman and CEO of Zassi Medical Evolutions Inc. He established the medical device company in 1997 at age 28. Peter s goal in forming this entrepreneurial enterprise was to create a life sciences company that focuses on breakthrough technologies that are patient and family centric. He is an accomplished inventor, developer and marketer of new medical technologies and has already been granted 11 U.S. patents in addition to more than 75 other patents pending worldwide. In his early years, Peter pursued his vision for both new products and companies. He withdrew from college in his junior year to advance his career in the medical device industry. A native Floridian, Peter also worked in New Jersey and then in Missouri, where he served in numerous capacities for a smaller medical device firm named Biosearch Medical Products. He also worked for billion-dollar medical device firm Sherwood Davis & Geck, an American Home Products company. His accomplishments include the following: Peter has been recognized as a leading technology entrepreneur by several key institutions, including being named the 2000 Florida Entrepreneur of the Year in the area of healthcare and life sciences by Ernst & Young. He has also been recognized as a leading entrepreneur by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who awarded Peter the Business Diversification Award for Entrepreneurship in 2003. In 2004, Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry magazine recognized Peter as one of the 100 Most Notable People currently making a material difference in the global medical device industry. He has also been a guest lecturer at clinical meetings, including both the American and the Russian societies of parenteral and enteral nutrition, where he presented new therapeutic technologies and critical-care pathways for immunological bolstering of the critically ill. Several colleges and universities have invited him to speak to students and faculty about the art of entrepreneurship. Peter has been an invited guest presenter at the Financial Executives Institute regarding the various challenges and strategies used to start a new technology enterprise. Political leaders have asked Peter to discuss his ideas related to the enhancement of Florida s knowledge- based economy. Specifically, in October 2006, Florida Sens. King and Pruitt invited Peter to speak at the 21 st Century Economic Summit meetings in Florida. Peter is active in his community and is a member of the University of North Florida College of Health Deans Council and a member of the First Coast WorkSource-board-of-directors and its youth council, for which he provides guidance on ways to better prepare teenagers who are either disabled or from foster homes to compete for higher-quality jobs. Today, under Peter s leadership, Zassi s groundbreaking technologies and products have provided new solutions in the multi-billion dollar markets of infection control and wound care. After years of product development work, in 2003 the Zassi Bowel Management System was introduced in the U.S. a first for the medical device market. In 2004, the Bowel Management System technology was awarded the Gold Medical Design Excellence Award. Subsequently, Peter launched this new technology in more than 20 countries. In 2006, Zassi sold the Bowel Management System technology to a leading international healthcare firm after achieving 100 percent revenue growth for three consecutive years thus fueling the company s expansion into a wider anatomical scope of medical devices and surgical innovations. |
