Peter N. Townshend is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's San Diego and Silicon Valley offices. Peter is a member of the Firm's Corporate Department as well as the Private Equity/Emerging Companies practice group.
Peter has extensive experience representing emerging growth technology companies and venture capital investors in structuring a wide variety of transactions. His practice includes mergers and acquisitions; venture capital and other private equity financings; public offerings; corporate governance; convertible note and other debt financings; corporate formation and maintenance; distribution, development, manufacturing, co-marketing, licensing and other commercial transactions; executive employment agreements; cross border transactions; stock option plans and executive compensation; and venture capital and private equity fund formation.
Peter is a recognized expert on issues relating to emerging technology companies and venture capital. He has lectured at U.C. Berkeley, U.C. San Diego, Santa Clara University, and San Jose State University, and has been quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle, TheDeal.com and Entrepreneur Magazine. He is a regular lecturer on topics relating to emerging companies, angel and venture capital and mergers and acquisitions.
Peter is a member of the American Bar Association, The California State Bar and the Business Law and Technology Sections of the San Diego County Bar Association.
