Peter Epp, CPA, is a Partner at Goldstein Golub Kessler LLP. Mr. Epp is responsible for the Healthcare Services Group's financial management services, and he is recognized for his expertise in the healthcare industry, particularly in the area of healthcare reimbursement issues. Mr. Epp's clientele include federally and non-federally funded ambulatory healthcare centers, managed care entities, social service agencies, membership associations and other nonprofit organizations. Within the Healthcare Services Group, Mr. Epp has overall responsibility for the activities of the financial reporting staff, including planning, selecting and assigning personnel, and supervising and reviewing all phases of an assignment. Mr. Epp plays a prominent role in the development and oversight of the Healthcare Services Group's continuing professional education training curriculum. Among Mr. Epp's areas of expertise is the review of client cost reports, including the New York State Department of Health Medicaid cost report, Federally Qualified Health Center ("FQHC") Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and the New York State Consolidated Fiscal Report. During the course of these reviews, Mr. Epp applies his knowledge of the industry and client operations to ensure that all financial and accounting systems are set up for proper revenue/cost allocation methodologies with the intent of maximizing reimbursement. Mr. Epp has engaged in negotiations with third-party intermediaries for clients regarding reimbursement issues, including Medicare and Medicaid. Mr. Epp is a frequent lecturer at seminars and workshops on issues ranging from the preparation of the FQHC cost reports to financial management systems and audits of not-for-profit organizations, to cost-based reimbursement and managed care. In addition, Mr. Epp was extensively involved with the revision to the Medicaid cost report for ambulatory care facilities in New York State. Mr. Epp is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, including the Nonprofit Organizations, Healthcare Institutions and Auditing Standards Procedures subcommittees. Mr. Epp received a B.S. in accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton. |
