Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, he was the president of a major privately held franchise corporation based in the Southeast United States. Leadership roles are a distinguishing element of Pete�s early career. As a Second Lieutenant with the First Marine Division in Vietnam, he led an infantry platoon in a number of major combat operations against enemy forces. He was personally decorated by both the United States and Republic of Vietnam governments for his actions. He later served in the Central Intelligence Agency and as the Marine Military Assistant to President Ronald Reagan in the White House. In this capacity, he was responsible to the President for assisting him with carrying out his constitutional responsibilities as well as continuity of government operations. Regarded by the international business community and national media as a trusted expert, Pete is a much sought-after speaker and source. He appears frequently on CNBC and has been quoted by CNN/Money, Investors Business Daily, BusinessWeek, and others. He is a member of the Board of Advisors of The Conference Board. Pete earned a BA (International Relations) from the University of Colorado and later completed graduate studies in national security policy and Latin American studies.
