Phil Harlow Biography :

Philip Harlow is chief diversity and employee advocacy officer for Xerox Corporation. He was named to this position February 2003.

Harlow is responsible for Xerox's diversity strategies, "voice of the employee" initiatives and the Corporate Industrial Relations Office. He is also responsible for directing or supporting the company's diversity councils and forums, minority supplier programs, employee caucus groups, training and development, university relations and recruitment activities.

Prior to re-joining Xerox in 2003, Harlow worked at Bausch & Lomb Inc., where he served as vice president, Human Resources, in support of Bausch & Lomb's operations in North and South America. From 1998-2001 he was vice president, Human Resources, Corporate Services at Merck & Co. in New Jersey, and was responsible for corporate human resources strategy and program development in the areas of compensation, benefits, diversity, employee relations and health services.

Prior to Merck, Harlow had a 25-year career in human resources at Xerox Corporation. He joined Xerox in 1973 as a human resource generalist in Webster, N.Y., and assumed increasingly responsible human resource operations assignments in the company's engineering and manufacturing, sales and marketing, and customer service divisions. This led to his position as vice president, Human Resources for Xerox's Office Document Products division.

Harlow received his bachelor's of science degree in labor and industrial relations from LeMoyne College in 1973 and attended the Harvard Executive Business Program in 1999.

He has served various civic, educational and faith-based organizations including the LeMoyne College board of trustees, Rochester Family Restoration Project, and the Rochester City School District's Community Employment Advisory Committee. He also has been a board member for New Life Fellowship and the Rochester Urban League.

Harlow was born May 17, 1951, in Syracuse, N.Y.
