Philippe Ithurbide joined the Caisse de d�p�t et placement du Qu�bec in February 2006 and has been Executive Vice-President, Fixed Income, since April 2007. Before this appointment, he was the Fixed Income group�s Vice-President, Strategic Investments. His main mandate is to oversee the teams responsible for the group�s four specialized portfolios: Short Term Investments, Real Return Bonds, Bonds and Long Term Bonds. The currency management team also reports to Mr. Ithurbide. As well, he is responsible for management of the fixed-income securities in the specialized Qu�bec International portfolio. Mr. Ithurbide is a member of the Caisse�s Executive Committee and its Investment Division Committee.
Background
Mr. Ithurbide holds a "dipl�me d��tudes de troisi�me cycle" and a doctorate in economics and international finance from the Universit� de Bordeaux in France. He taught at that university for almost 10 years and has more than 20 years of experience in currencies and interest rates. He is the author or co-author of books and articles on various subjects pertaining to pension plans, including asset-liability management, foreign exchange markets, fixed Income and commodities.
Before joining the Caisse, Mr. Ithurbide held various positions at Soci�t� G�n�rale, including Chief Strategist and Research Director, Foreign Exchange and Interest Rates. As a member of the board of directors of the Soci�t� G�n�rale pension plan for six years, he was responsible for asset allocation. Mr. Ithurbide has also held various positions with other French financial institutions.
