Prior to joining Huron Rajan served as the Geographic Practice Leader and Senior Manager for Ernst & Young�s Health Sciences Advisory Services practice for the New England region and a National Director for KPMG LLP�s Healthcare Assurance Based Advisory Services Regulatory practice. Rajan specialized in the areas of strategic and operational planning revenue management and regulatory optimization and compliance.
Representative examples of Rajan�s experience include:
Led several financial operational and strategic evaluations for physician practice plans associated with academic medical centers and large urban facilities. These analyses involved evaluating the operating structure of the physician practice organization conducting physician productivity assessments determining the structure that best optimizes third party reimbursement and performing compliance reviews under current Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
Conducted numerous revenue optimization engagements for academic medical centers large urban hospitals and community hospitals where these organizations realized an increase in net revenue ranging from $1 million to $3.5 million.
Developed several revenue enhancement products that significantly increased Medicare net revenues. Rajan served as the National Product Champion for KPMG�s Medicare Outpatient Prospective Payment System product line. Rajan led engagement teams in analyses that included a comprehensive analysis and restructuring of a hospital�s revenue cycle and management processes to address prospective payment for outpatient services under the Medicare program. These projects generated $1 to $8 million of additional Medicare net revenue opportunities.
Managed a strategic and operational review of the governmental revenue management function of a large for-profit healthcare system. This review led to the identification of millions of dollars of opportunity to improve operations by streamlining redundant processes and identifying better operating structures to enhance communication between corporate and its member hospitals.
Assisted in the review of the financial operations of a large for-profit managed care insurer. This analysis led to a restructuring of the finance function of the organization and improved methods to refine its capitated payment methodology for participating physicians.
