Dr. Ramsay Farah is a distinguished physician with extensive clinical and administrative expertise in private, hospital, government, and commercial health care systems. Dr. Farah�s direct experience, from clinical practice as a pediatrician and addictions medicine specialist to a variety of operational roles in administrative medicine, brings tremendous value to Calvert Health�s care, treatment, and services. As Calvert Health�s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Farah consults with company management and clinicians on quality and utilization management. He also serves on the Calvert Health Quality Improvement Committee to monitor patient health outcomes. Dr. Farah remains in active practice as medical director of the Hagerstown Treatment Center, a community addiction treatment clinic. In the past, he served as medical director at several other addiction and general medicine clinics. He also ran a private pediatric practice with over 16,000 patients, 30 staff, and offices in two states. Dr. Farah chaired the pediatrics department for six years at Washington County Hospital. He completed residency in general preventive medicine and epidemiology at Johns Hopkins, also residency and fellowship in pediatrics at the University of Maryland Hospital. Dr. Farah joins Calvert Health from Nationwide Better Health, where he establishes medical management strategy for the conduct of utilization, case, disease, absence, and disability management programs, along with health promotion and maternity management. He served for seven years as the medical director for quality improvement at Sierra Military Health Services, where he managed medical peer review, credentialing, quality improvement studies, disease management programs, and the development of practice guidelines for physical, occupational, and speech therapy. In the community, Dr. Farah serves on the Maryland State Board of Physicians, which regulates the practice of medicine and several other professions in Maryland. For nine years, he was a trustee of Maryland�s state medical society. Dr. Farah has served on numerous committees related to the practice and regulation of health care for local and state government and for local, state, and national medical societies. Dr. Farah is the founding president of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and served as a district governor of Rotary International. He is the recipient of numerous governmental and clinical awards and honors. |
