Randy Mueller, now entering his third season as the Dolphins� General Manager, was named to the post on June 6, 2005, bringing with him 19 years of experience in the NFL.
Prior to joining the Dolphins, Mueller�s most recent NFL stint was when he spent two seasons (2000-01) as General Manager of Football Operations with the New Orleans Saints. In Mueller�s two years overseeing the football operations of that club, the Saints posted a composite regular season record of 17-15, and in his first year there, captured the NFC West title with a record of 10-6 and claimed the franchise�s first playoff win. For that performance, he was named the Sporting News NFL Executive of the Year in 2000. He left the club following the 2002 NFL Draft.
Before joining the Saints, Mueller spent the previous 17 years with the Seattle Seahawks. He first went to Seattle in 1983 as an assistant in pro personnel and was elevated to Pro Personnel Director in 1990. In 1995, he was named Vice President/Football Operations and held that post until joining the Saints. In 1999, Mueller�s final year in Seattle, the Seahawks captured the AFC West crown. From 2002 until being hired by Miami, Mueller served as an NFL analyst for ESPN.
A native of St. Maries, Idaho, Mueller played quarterback at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. As a senior in 1982, he led the school to the NAIA Division II national championship and was named Most Valuable Player of the title game. His brother, Rick, is the Vice President of Player Personnel with the Saints. Randy and his wife, Lori, have a daughter, Riley. |
