K. Ravi Acharya, Ph.D., is currently a Professor of Structural Biology at the University of Bath, Bath, UK, where he led the establishment of the Structural Biology Group. He received his Ph.D. in Structural Biology at Bangalore University, India. He previously served as a Scientist at the National Chemical Laboratory at Pune, India, and completed postdoctoral studies at the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK. Dr. Acharya has extensive expertise in protein crystallography. He has solved the structures of numerous important proteins, including ribonucleases. He has over 150 publications in prestigious international journals. For the past seven years, he has served on Medical Research Council (MRC) Advisory Board (UK). He is also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Biochemical Society (UK), the British Crystallographic Association, and the Society for Glycobiology. Dr. Acharya received the Wellcome Trust Biomedical Image Award in 2002.
