Mr. Best currently serves as Chairman, President and CEO of Lone Star Technologies, Inc., a holding company whose principal operating companies produce and market premium casing, tubing, line pipe and couplings for the oil and gas industry; specialty tubing for the industrial, automotive, and power generation industries; and flat rolled steel and other tubular products and services. Mr. Best has held the position of CEO since June 1998 and of Chairman since January 1999. He began his career at Lone Star as the President and CEO of Lone Star Steel Company, a position he held for eight years before becoming President and COO of the parent company in 1997. Before joining Lone Star, he had several leadership positions in the banking industry. Mr. Best worked at the First City Bank Corporation from 1982 until 1989, becoming President of First City Dallas, the second-largest bank in the First City system at that time, in 1985. Mr. Best is active in several energy industry organizations, including IPAA. He is Past Chairman of the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association and is currently a Director of the Maguire Energy Institute of Southern Methodist University. He also serves on the College of Business Administration Board of Advisors at the University of North Texas and is involved in a number of community and civic organizations in the Dallas area. Mr. Best graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree and later earned a Masters of Business Administration Degree at Southern Methodist University. |
