Rich Kerr is Senior Vice President, Operations, for the Advanced Technology Group. Mr. Kerr has over 25 years in the ASIC and communications business.
He began his career in the field of Nuclear Physics for the U.S. government. Upon obtaining his MSEE, he worked at MA/COM Linkabit where he led the design and tools development for products such as Videochiper for HBO and various Military modem designs.
In 1987, Mr. Kerr joined QUALCOMM as the firms only ASIC designer and in 1991, as project leader of the company�s CDMA ASIC development initiative, managed the engineering team that produced the first CDMA system on a chip - which today is the basis for over $2.5 billion in annual revenue for QUALCOMM. In 1996 Mr. Kerr assumed the position of Chief Technologies for QUALCOMM�s handset division where he led the development of products such as the first Palm OS based Smartphone (Kyocera 6035 series) and an OEM module business. He earned a BS Physics in 1974 from SDSU, an MSEE with Honors from SDSU in 1983, and an MBA from UCSD in 1993. |
