Mr. Hackborn served as HP's chairman of the board of directors from January 2000 to September 2000. In September 2006 he was designated lead independent director. Prior to retiring from HP in 1993 after 33 years of service, he held several top management positions at the company. From 1990 until his retirement, he was responsible for HP's PC and personal information product business. His leadership and design engineer background resulted in the integration of HP's early minicomputer and high-frequency test instrumentation businesses. In 1979, Mr. Hackborn served as general manager and then vice president of the printing business, where he was responsible for the development of key HP printing technologies, such as inkjet and laser printing, and for the design and manufacture of non-impact print technologies. |
