Richard A. Lang is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Chicago office. Dick, a member of the Private Client Department, joined McDermott after twenty years at Kirkland & Ellis, where he headed the estate planning practice.
Dick focuses on delivering the Firm's wide array of legal services to the nation's wealthiest individuals and families. Among his specialties are wealth transfer and income tax planning for venture capital and entrepreneurial clients, as well as counseling for family offices. Dick maintains an office in the Firm's Chicago and Silicon Valley offices and is a frequent visitor to the Firm's New York office.
Dick is a fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He is a frequent lecturer on a variety of estate planning subjects and is a co-author of zCalc, an Excel add-in of spreadsheet functions for estate planners. Richard heads the Firm's affinity group on leveraged gifting. He also chairs the Professional Advisory Board of the Chicago Community Trust. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America.
