Richard A. Whalen is a managing director of Duff & Phelps, LLC. Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Mr. Whalen was a director in PricewaterhouseCooper's valuation practice. Mr. Whalen has over a decade of experience in the identification, valuation, and determination of the remaining life of intangible assets, including core deposit intangibles, loan premium or discount, customer-based intangible assets, software, non-compete agreements, licenses, contracts, trademarks and trade names, and going concern, as well as over ten years of experience performing business enterprise valuations. Many of Mr. Whalen's studies involve discounted cash flow and statistical lifing analyses.
Mr. Whalen has performed numerous allocations of purchase price and business valuations related to corporate acquisitions, and he has experience with regulators' expectations and procedures regarding purchase price allocations. Mr. Whalen is well versed in FASB Statements 141 and 142 regarding business combinations and impairment testing.
Mr. Whalen holds a B.B.A in finance and accounting from the University of Notre Dame (1986) and an M.B.A in finance and statistics from the University of Chicago (1990). Mr. Whalen is a former two-term Alderman for the City of Park Ridge and is a member of the Business Valuation Association. |
