Richard C. DeMarco is a member of the firm's Zoning and Land Use Practice Group. His practice concentrates on zoning and land use matters, as well as administrative law, government law, and real estate and zoning litigation.
Before joining Klehr Harrison, Mr. DeMarco served as counsel to the current President of Philadelphia City Counsel, Anna C. Verna, where he practiced zoning and land use law and government law. His knowledge of legislative procedures helps him counsel his clients on the nuances of legislation and his experience in City government enables him to better assist clients in obtaining the necessary permitting for their development proposals.
Mr. DeMarco's extensive knowledge of the Zoning Code resulted in him being appointed to the Philadelphia Zoning Code Commission, formed by Philadelphia City Council, and approved by the voters in May 2007. The Zoning Code Commission will rewrite the Philadelphia Zoning Code and positively affect development in the City for decades to come.
Mr. DeMarco deals directly with the many City departments and agencies necessary for obtaining zoning permits, including, but not limited to, the Department of Licenses of Inspections, the City Planning Commission, the Streets Department, the Historical Commission, the Art Commission, the Redevelopment Authority, and the Zoning Board of Adjustment. He coordinates with local elected officials and community groups to help secure support for his clients' development proposals.
Mr. DeMarco has developed a growing group of clients which includes a major restaurant chain, a bank, a major management company, residential developers, and numerous small businesses and individuals. Mr. DeMarco also handles a diverse range of real estate-related litigation. In his litigation practice, he has handled eminent domain cases and challenges, boundary disputes, ejectment matters, title disputes, and property rights violations. |
