Richard G. Kotarba is Senior Counsel to Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP and former Chairman of its Construction Law Group. During his 34 years of practice, Mr. Kotarba has provided counsel and representation in a broad range of practice areas. Mr. Kotarba has actively filed and pursued numerous claims in Pennsylvania and other states representing several nationally known construction companies and title insurance companies. In addition, he has actively pursued various claims before the American Arbitration Association, served as counsel in the seven-week trial of the Pittsburgh Convention Center before the Pennsylvania Board of Claims and successfully litigated substantial claims before the United States-Iranian Tribunal in the Hague, Netherlands. Mr. Kotarba assisted in the preparation of the original Uniform Commercial Code Reporter Digest, was a former case editor for the Pittsburgh Legal Journal and has delivered many speeches on real estate and construction topics. He has spoken to various organizations including the American Institute of Architects (Pittsburgh), the Construction Financial Managers Association (Pittsburgh), SMACNA (Pittsburgh and Charleston, West Virginia), the National Roofing Contractors Association (Boca Raton, Florida), and the Mechanical-Electrical Council (Pittsburgh). Mr. Kotarba is listed in Woodward-White's The Best Lawyers in America and is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Allegheny County Bar Associations, as well as a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. He has served on the Board of Trustees of LaRoche College since 1974 and is a past Chair of the Real Property Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association, past Chair of the Board of Trustees of LaRoche College and past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Pontifical College Josephinum. Mr. Kotarba graduated magna cum laude from John Carroll University in 1963. In 1966, he graduated from Boston College Law School where he served as Casenote Editor for the Boston College Commercial and Industrial Law Review and was selected as a member of the Order of Coif. |
