Richard J. Himelfarb is head of Investment Banking for Stifel Nicolaus & Company, Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors of its parent company, Stifel Financial Corp. He joined Stifel on December 1, 2005 pursuant to Stifel's acquisition of the Capital Markets business of Legg Mason, Inc. Mr. Himelfarb joined Legg Mason, Inc. in October of 1983 as Head of Investment Banking of that firm, a position he held for over 22 years. His responsibilities at Legg Mason, Inc. also included corporate development activities and supervision of Legg Mason's real estate finance and advisory subsidiaries. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Legg Mason, Inc. After graduation from Yale Law School in 1965, Mr. Himelfarb served for two years as a U. S. Army Infantry officer. He then joined the law firm of Weinberg & Green, (now Saul Ewing LLP) where he practiced corporate, tax and securities law for 16 years. At that law firm he served as Legg Mason's outside general counsel. Mr. Himelfarb is a 1962 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the Johns Hopkins University. His current community activities include his role as Chairman of the Board of the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc. (the principal outside board for the professional schools of that University) and as a Trustee of the Kennedy Krieger Institute (serving children with neurological disabilities). |
