Richard J. Kaplan joined the firm in 1999 as a partner in the real estate transaction group. Mr. Kaplan�s expertise lies in federal, state and local taxation, with extensive experience in real estate transactions, including real estate investments by tax-exempt organizations, partnerships, joint ventures, limited liability companies and real estate investment trusts and other pass-through entities. His experience also includes debt restructurings and federal and state tax controversy matters.
Mr. Kaplan earned his J.D. in 1973 from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law, where he served as an associate editor of the UCLA Law Review. In 1970, he received his bachelor�s degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
