Richard J. Pettler, Partner; San Francisco. Mr. Pettler provides guidance and counsel to Fortune 500 companies on export issues including the global transfer of technology and foreign national technology access. He counsels clients on compliance with U.S. export control laws including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR"), the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR") and sanctions regulations administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control ("OFAC"). Representative matters include enforcement actions and settlement negotiations with U.S. government regulatory and investigatory agencies, internal investigations, development of deemed export compliance programs and processes, foreign national export licensing under the EAR and ITAR, and counseling on embargo and sactions restrictions. Mr. Pettler is the Chair of the Deemed Exports Subcommittee of the American Electronics Association ("AeA") and is a member of the American Bar Association's International Law Section. He is a frequent lecturer and author on export control compliance and has testified before Congress on U.S. export controls and visa processing issues. A member of the California Bar, Mr. Pettler is a graduate of the University of West Los Angeles School of Law (J.D., 1977). |
