Richard Wysong is vice president of Engineering, Materials and Planning for United. He is based at the company�s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Center in San Francisco.
Wysong is responsible for all key staff functions, as well as strategic planning, for the United Services MRO division of United, with a focus on continuous improvement and asset optimization. He leads a staff of more than 500 professionals and is responsible for more than $300 million in annual outside vendor expenditure and $1.3 billion in inventory assets. Wysong is also responsible for all aspects of United's engineering, including fleet reliability, modification projects, maintenance programs and technical publications. In addition, he oversees all key functions of sales and marketing for United Services, including sales planning, market development and customer service.
Prior to his current position, Wysong was vice president of Revenue Management for United, responsible for all pricing and seat inventory management, as well as Global Distribution Systems (GDS) management and revenue forecasting. He joined United in 1985 as an intern in the Revenue Management department, and held a variety of positions in Revenue Management and Corporate Research and Development where he became director of Corporate Research and Development in 1992. In 1995, Wysong moved to San Francisco as controller for the Maintenance Division. Later that year he was named director of Maintenance Planning, and in 1996 he was given responsibility for maintenance of the San Francisco facility. In 2002, Wysong was named general manager of Material Management and Maintenance Planning, overseeing 1,400 storekeepers, as well as planning, budget and materials management for Fleet Operations.
Wysong holds a master's degree in transportation from Northwestern University, and a bachelor's degree in economics and geography from Ohio State University. |
