Dr. Richard W. Klopp is a Senior Managing Engineer in Exponent�s Mechanical Engineering and Materials/Metallurgy practice. Dr. Klopp specializes in mechanical engineering and mechanics with particular expertise in laboratory-based testing and mathematical analysis of materials and structures. He has extensive experience in fracture mechanics high strain rate deformation and failure shock wave loading mechanical testing and optical measurement methods. Dr. Klopp has applied his expertise to the behavior of metals ceramics rocks plastics advanced composites liquids and wood. Fields of application have included armor/antiarmor underground tunnels aerospace missile defense recreational products railroad tank cars and polyethylene pipes. Dr. Klopp received a Ph.D. in Engineering from Brown University. He is a registered professional mechanical engineer in the state of California. |
