Richard H. Anderson 52 is Chief Executive Officer of Delta Air Lines as of Sept. 1 2007. He joined Delta as a member of the Board of Directors in April 2007.
Anderson has nearly 20 years of aviation experience. He entered the industry in 1987 at Continental Airlines where he ultimately served as staff vice president and deputy general counsel. In 1990 Anderson began a 14-year career at Northwest Airlines where he served as vice president and deputy general counsel; senior vice president of Technical Operations and Airport Affairs; executive vice president and chief operating officer; and from 2001 to 2004 as chief executive officer.
Anderson joined Delta from his position as executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group where he has worked for the past three years and served as president of UnitedHealth�s Commercial Markets Group. He also serves as a director of Cargill Inc. and Medtronic Inc.
A native of Galveston Texas Anderson holds a bachelor�s degree from the University of Houston and a Juris Doctor degree from South Texas College of Law. He and his wife Susan look forward to relocating to the Atlanta area this fall. |
