Richard is the senior audit partner at Burton McCumber & Cortez, L.L.P. Richard graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas with a B.B.A. in Accounting in 1969. He obtained his Certified Public Accountant certificate in 1970 and his Chartered Bank Auditor's Certificate in 1986.
EXPERIENCE
Richard began his career in the Houston office of Grant Thornton in August 1969, and was promoted to manager in August 1975. In March 1979, he moved to South Texas to establish the Brownsville office. He was promoted to partner in 1980. Prior to his transfer to South Texas, he managed substantially all of the bank engagements in the Houston office of Grant Thornton. While with the firm, Richard was a member of Grant Thornton's National Financial Institutions Industry Service Committee and provided technical assistance in banking and bank holding company matters to other offices within the Southwest Region of Grant Thornton.
Richard has experience in all phases of accounting, auditing, and consulting and serves as an account partner for a large number of major clients of Burton McCumber & Cortez, L.L.P. His particular areas of specialization include banking, S.E.C. filings, mergers and acquisitions, feasibility studies and strategic planning.
