Richard Jones is the current Senior Managing Director and Chief Information Officer for Countrywide Financial Corporation (NYSE: CFC), a diversified financial services company, and the nation's leading residential mortgage lender and servicer. In this position, he provides technical leadership for all technology and eBusiness initiatives at Countrywide.
Richard has direct responsibility for the Infrastructure Technology (IT) Division and Enterprise IT Governance. Governance includes strategic technology planning and alignment, risk management, value and performance management, technology policies and standards. The IT Division provides support for Countrywide's technology infrastructure throughout the enterprise. This includes Data Center support, Branch Support, Production Control systems, National Operations, Technology Research, Network Services (data, voice and wireless), Call Center systems, Server Engineering (Windows, Linux, pSeries and iSeries platforms), Storage Engineering and Information Lifecycle Management, eMail and Collaborative Computing, Help Desk and End User support. Richard also serves on the Technology Risk Committee of Countrywide Financial Corporation.
Previous companies Richard has worked with include Technicolor, Inc., where he served as chief technical officer. While with Technicolor, Jones led the development of a national direct video distribution network for Buena Vista Home Video (Disney) that enabled fully computerized distribution and return systems to retailers nationwide.
Earlier, Richard served as president and CEO of Bethany Computer Systems, Inc., a seller of PC, communications, networking and accounting software technologies. He began his career with IBM Canada as a software engineer, and worked as a senior consulting partner for JNL EFT Consulting, Inc., which provided financial networking solutions to clients such as the Royal Bank of Canada, the Bank of Montreal and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
On June 2, 2003, Richard was named CIO of the Year in the 2003 Citigroup Smith Barney CIO Award series. The award is given to CIOs who have demonstrated superiority in increasing IT productivity while decreasing costs. In the same year, he was named one of the Premier 100 IT leaders by Computerworld.
Richard serves on the Board of Directors of the Brain Cancer Genome Project (UCLA Oncology Deptartment) and on the Board of Trustees of the Wellness Community. |
