Dr. Richard Kelley is the Chairman of the Board of Outrigger Enterprises Group.
In addition to his role with Outrigger, Dr. Kelley has worked tirelessly with government, organized labor and private industry to develop Hawaii's vistor industry and business community.
Dr. Kelley is frequently called upon by the media to provide expert opinions regarding the tourism industry, and has contributed insightful articles to business and trade publications. He also speaks regularly in local, national, and international forums.
Dr. Kelley has received numerous honors. The Sales & Marketing Executives of Honolulu, Inc. (SME) named him the 1994 Sales Person of the Year for his "profound and extensive contributions to developing the State of Hawaii as a tourist destination and as a desirable place to live and work". Additionally, SME named Dr. Kelley "the father of the convention center" for his leadership in guiding efforts to develop the Hawaii Convention Center. He was also elected to the Hawaii Business Hall of Fame. He received the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Industrial & Office Properties Association, Hawaii Chapter. In 2004, he was honored with the "O in Life" award by Punahou School, and the Legacy in Tourism award from the University of Hawaii School of Travel Industry Management.
Dr. Kelley is a member of several tourism organizations including the prestigious World Travel & Tourism Council where he is a member of the Executive Committee.
Dr. Kelley was born in Honolulu and educated at Punahou School, Stanford University, and Harvard Medical School. |
