Richard Magurno, senior vice president general counsel and corporate secretary, joined AirTran Airways in August 2000. He oversees the airline�s legal affairs and serves as corporate secretary for the board of directors.
Magurno has an extensive aviation legal background, most recently operating a private aviation consulting practice. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president and general counsel of Trans World Airlines. From 1989 to 1994, he was a partner in the law firm of Lord, Day & Lord, Barrett Smith in New York.
Magurno began his airline career in 1970 as a staff attorney at Eastern Air Lines. In 1980, Magurno was appointed vice president - legal, and was named assistant secretary for Eastern. In 1984, he was promoted to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Eastern Air Lines.
Magurno, a native of Suffern, New York, earned a bachelor of science from Georgetown University in Washington D.C, a master of arts from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., and a juris doctorate from Bronx, New York�s Fordham University School of Law. Magurno is a member of the bar of the states of New York and Florida, and he is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and several federal appellate and district courts. |
