Richard White is President and CEO of W5 Networks, a venture capital backed start up company providing wireless solutions to retailers. Prior to W5, Mr. White served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Ross Stores, Inc. where he was responsible for all corporate office, distribution and store level technology, including software applications, computer operations, store systems and voice and data networks. Before joining Ross Stores, White co-founded and became President of Matthews, White & Co., a consulting firm for start up and emerging growth technology companies. Prior to that, he founded Intrepid Systems, Inc., where he served as Chairman, CEO and President. Intrepid developed, marketed and implemented enterprise-wide merchandising and decision support applications for medium to large size retailers, including Wal*Mart, Neiman Marcus, Montgomery Ward, Liz Claiborne, Ross Stores, Blockbuster Entertainment and The Disney Stores. Under his management, Intrepid became one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S., ranking 13th on Inc. Magazine's list of the 500 fastest growing companies. In 1998, Intrepid was acquired by PeopleSoft, Inc. Prior to Intrepid Systems, White became part of the founding management and CIO of Office Club, a venture-backed office product superstore retailer. Office Club went public in 1988 and merged with Office Depot in 1991. White holds an A.B. in Human Biology and an M.B.A., both from Stanford University. |
