Rick Chance joined KPMG Corporate Finance in 2006 serving as Managing Director and the U.S. Group Head for the Special Situations Advisory Group. With more than 17 years of M&A and corporate finance experience, Rick has advised both performing and underperforming companies, debtors, creditors, creditors' committees, equity holders, and other constituents in many industry sectors.
Prior to joining KPMG Corporate Finance, Rick was a Managing Director at Trenwith Securities, LLC heading the firm's Western Regional Investment Banking and National Restructuring practices. Prior to Trenwith, he held senior management positions for various divisions of the Blackrock Group, an investment firm based in Toronto, Canada, specializing in the acquisition and syndication of distressed assets.
In connection with Rick's advisory role representing various debtors and creditors in bankruptcy, he has provided expert testimony in bankruptcy courts, authored articles, as well as been quoted in various publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Deal, Dow Jones, Bloomberg, Corporate Finance Week, The M&A Advisor, and the LA Times. In 2005, as lead investment banker representing Second Chance Body Armor's sale to Armor Holdings, The M&A Advisor named this transaction as a finalist in its "Turnaround Deal of the Year" national competition. Additional Chapter II advisory roles include Napster, Bike, Pillowtex, USI, Fannie Mae, Laura Secord, Bridge Technology, and Viasource.
Rick holds an M.B.A. from the University of California in Los Angeles, California and a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Rick is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, California Bankruptcy Forum, Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, and Association for Corporate Growth. |
