Responsible for the overall operations of our Fredericksburg facility.
Maintains communications and interactions among Sales, Customer Service, Estimating, Scheduling and Purchasing.
Works closely with clients on production requirements and expectations.
Works together regularly with Vice President of Operations Don Terkel and Operations Floor Manager Vince Salmiery to ensure client needs are being met at all levels.
Collaborates with Mike Mills, his counterpart at Openfirst's Milwaukee, Wisconsin, facility, to share best practices.
Rick draws upon his long-standing experience in operations management, customer support, mailing, transportation and distribution to fulfill his Plant Manager responsibilities. Prior to joining Openfirst in early 2007, he worked for Parcel Direct, a subsidiary of Quad/Graphics that consolidated and delivered high volumes of packages for direct mail merchants, and FedEx, which acquired Parcel Direct in 2004 and re-branded the business FedEx SmartPost.
Rick joined Parcel Direct in July 1998 as a Process Coordinator and, in one year's time, advanced into management. In early 2002, he was promoted to Operations Plant Manager for Parcel Direct's Martinsburg, West Virginia, facility. Rick moved to California in spring 2004 to be West Coast Regional Operations Manager for Parcel Direct's then-newly acquired Los Angeles and San Francisco locations.
In 2004, Quad/Graphics sold Parcel Direct to FedEx. As part of the transaction, Rick agreed to spend two years helping with the transition of Parcel Direct to FedEx. At FedEx, he served as Senior Manager of Transportation for FedEx SmartPost.
