College Career:
Played college football at Shepherd, a Division II school in West Virginia, where he was a second-team All-American in 2006, Schmitt holds school records for scoring (250 points), field goals (33), extra points (151) and points in a season (80 in 2005) punted 41 times for a 42.7 yard average with 12 punts inside the 20 and also had eight kickoffs go for touchbacks as a senior was selected as a first-team All-WVIAC choice as a punter and kicker as a junior after punting 68 times for 2,607 yards and a 38.3 average and connecting on 50-of-54 extra points and 10-of-14 field goals for 80 points punted 62 times for 2,377 yards and a 38.3 average and 20 punts downed inside the 20-yard line in his sophomore year while only 15 of his punts were returned connected on 33-of-36 extra points and 9-of-11 field goals for 60 points started all 10 games as a freshman punter and kicker and also handled kickoff duties punted 52 times for a 36.5 average with a long punt of 53 yards and connected on 25-of-30 extra points and 4-of-6 field goals for 37 points.
