Rita W. Siamas is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Orange County Office. As a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, Rita focuses her practice in all areas of intellectual property litigation, including patent, trademark, and copyright infringement; misappropriation of trade secrets; and unfair competition. Rita also assists clients with domestic and international trademark prosecution and advises clients on internet commerce issues such as domain name registration and dispute resolution.
Rita earned her LL.M. degree in Trade Regulation from New York University School of Law, specializing in both intellectual property law and antitrust & competition policy. During her LL.M. studies, Rita worked as a law clerk for the Federal Trade Commission.
Rita earned her law degree from Boston University School of Law, receiving honors in the intellectual property law concentration. During law school, Rita worked in the Intellectual Property Department of Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, where she worked on matters including trademark prosecution, trademark and copyright infringement, internet enforcement, and domain name dispute resolution. Rita has experience drafting responses to office actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy complaints and cease and desist letters.
Rita is admitted to practice in California, as well as before the district courts of the Northern District of California, the Central District of California, the Eastern District of California, the Southern District of California, and the Eastern District of Texas. She is also a member of the International Trademark Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association and the American Bar Association's Intellectual Property section.
