Robert Greenfield Biography :

Mr. Greenfield is a senior shareholder of ST&G, specializing in corporate reorganization, insolvency and bankruptcy law. He has been with the firm since 1967. He was admitted to practice in the State of California in 1967. Mr. Greenfield attended the University of California at Los Angeles where he graduated in 1963. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He attended Harvard University, receiving his J.D., cum laude, in 1966. Mr. Greenfield was lead reorganization counsel for Falcon Products, Inc. Falcon is a leading manufacturer of furniture for the food services, contract office, hospitality, healthcare and education markets. In the fall of 2005, Falcon's plan of reorganization was confirmed by the Bankruptcy Court in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Greenfield was lead reorganization counsel for Clark Retail Enterprises, Inc., whose chapter 11 case was pending in Chicago, Illinois. Clark operated over 800 gasoline/convenient product stores throughout the Midwest. He was lead restructuring counsel for Butler Manufacturing Company of Kansas City, Missouri. Butler was sold to a major construction company. He was lead restructuring counsel for Huntsman Corporation and its domestic subsidiaries. Huntsman, which is located in Salt Lake City, Utah, is the world's largest privately owned chemical company. Huntsman was successfully reorganized out of court in September of 2002. He was lead chapter 11 counsel for Edwards Theatres, Inc. and its affiliations (in chapter 11), one of the largest movie exhibitors in the United States. A plan of reorganization for Edwards was confirmed in late 2001. He was lead reorganization counsel for Southern California Edison. He represents Leonard Green & Partners L.P., the controlling shareholders of the debtors, and defendants in LBO litigation, in the Hechinger cases pending in Delaware. He also represented Apollo Management, L.P., in the case of Refco, Inc., pending in the Southern District of New York. Representative engagements in which Mr. Greenfield has previously been involved include: lead chapter 11 counsel for Leasing Solutions, Inc. in San Jose, California; representing the successful purchaser of the assets of Converse, Inc. pending in Delaware; representing United Airlines in the acquisition of the Heathrow route and Latin American routes in the Pan American Airlines proceeding in New York City; lead chapter 11 counsel for Carter Hawley Hale in Los Angeles; representing the Equity Committee in Mortgage Realty & Trust in Los Angeles; lead chapter 11 counsel for Thrifty Oil Corporation and Golden West Refining in San Diego, California; and representing numerous companies in out-of-court workout negotiations such as Ideal Basic Industries in Denver, Petro-Lewis in Denver, and Quantel Corporation in San Francisco, The Federated Group in Los Angeles; Flying Tiger Lines, Inc. in Los Angeles, and North American Car Corporation in Chicago. Mr. Greenfield has authored many articles, including "Lines v. Frederick: The Effect of Bankruptcy on a Bankrupt's Accrued Vacation Pay and Other Forms of Deferred Compensation," 47 Los Angeles Bar Bulletin 67, 1971; "Alternatives to Bankruptcy for the Business Debtor," 51 Los Angeles Bar Bulletin 135, 1975; "The Bankruptcy Code and the Article 9 Secured Creditor," The Business Lawyer, April, 1979; "The National Bankruptcy Conference's Position on the Court System Under the Bankruptcy Amendments and Federal Judgeship Act of 1984 and Suggestions for Rules Promulgation," 23 Harv. J. on Legis. 357, 1986. He is very active in the legal community and serves on several committees. In addition, he was named as one of the "Top 100 Lawyers in Los Angeles County," the publication's list of the highest rated Super Lawyers.
