Dr. Robert A. Mikelskas is vice president in The MITRE Corporation's Center for Integrated Intelligence Systems (CIIS), a position he has held since June 2001. He is responsible for developing the strategy for CIIS and for overseeing the execution of programs in advanced intelligence and information systems. These programs support numerous sponsors, including the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, and other national security agencies.
In previous positions with MITRE, Dr. Mikelskas has contributed technically to and managed a wide variety of programs for the Department of Defense, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other national security organizations.
Prior to joining MITRE, Dr. Mikelskas was affiliated with General Electric Information Services Company, where he was responsible for the information security of a globally distributed network and information system. He has also been an Adjunct Faculty Member of the G. W. Whiting School of Engineering of the Johns Hopkins University, where he taught graduate courses in computer science.
At the request of the Director of the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA), Dr. Mikelskas served as a member of the NIMA forum, an advisory group looking into the future of imagery exploitation. He has also served on a Future Imagery Architecture Independent Review Team for the Department of Defense. He is a member of the Intelligence Community's Measurement and Signatures Intelligence Technology Advisory Panel. Dr. Mikelskas participates in the Overhauling Counterproliferation Workshops sponsored by the Preventive Defense Project, a research collaboration of Stanford and Harvard Universities.
In addition to participating in the Board of Directors of the Object Management Group, Dr. Mikelskas is a member of the Security Affairs Support Association, the National Military Intelligence Association, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the IEEE Computer Society. He is a member of the Computer Science Advisory Council of George Mason University.
Dr. Mikelskas was graduated magna cum laude from Fairfield University where he received a B.S. in Mathematics. He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Pennsylvania State University. |
