Robert A. Young, Ph.D. has served as a member of our board of directors since 1991 and served as Chairman of the Board from 1996 to 2002. Since February 2001, Dr. Young has served as Chief Executive Officer for Indian Rock Technology, Inc., through which he manages personal private equity investments in technology companies. From August 1998 to February 2001, Dr. Young served as Chief Executive Officer of Curl Corporation, an Internet infrastructure software company. From 1986 to 1997, Dr. Young was a Managing Director at Dillon, Read & Co. Inc., an investment bank. Over an 18-year period prior to that, he held a number of management and executive positions in sales, marketing, development and general management at IBM Corporation. His last position at IBM Corporation was as President of ffiM Instruments, Inc. He received a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
