Mr. Bird has over eleven years of experience in management and network security and architecture. Prior to Red Lambda, Mr. Bird served as the Director of Network Services of the University of Florida's $8M, 10,000 user residence hall network. Prior to this effort, he was responsible for the network security of USDA-sponsored research programs valued at $100M, spanning 67 counties in Florida. He is the co-author of over 15 US Patents, covering such areas as Holistic Network Management, Unsupervised Real-Time Learning and Security in Large-Scale Distributed Systems. Mr. Bird has testified before the US House of Representatives as an expert witness regarding the elimination of child pornography on the Internet and the mitigation of peer-to-peer file sharing. In 2005, Mr. Bird was co-awarded the State of Florida's Davis Productivity Award for outstanding contributions to efficiency and cost-savings within state agencies.Rob is an active member of the IETF, IEEE & ACM, having served as technical chair for conferences on Computational Intelligence for Security and Defense Applications, and Bio-Inspired Computing for Defense. Rob is also a member of the IETF NEA (Network Endpoint Assessment), SAAG (Security Area Advisory Group), OPSEC (Operational Security for IP Network Infrastructure) & MANET (Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks) working groups.
