Robert C. Metz is Executive Vice President of PRIMEDIA and President and CEO of Consumer Guides, consisting of the Consumer Source Inc. Key properties include Apartment Guide, New Home Guide, Auto Guide and CSinter@ctive, the Internet division of Consumer Source Inc., and DistribuTech.
He began his business career with PRIMEDIA Guides (then HPC Publications) in 1975 when it consisted of one small publication with revenues of $3,500 per month. Over the last 31 years with the company, he has served in various positions ranging from Publisher to Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, President and Chairman of the Board.
During Mr. Metz's tenure, the company has been sold twice, in 1989 to Dillon, Read & Co., and in 1994 to PRIMEDIA Inc. He remained as CEO after each sale and has guided the company to its current Segment revenue of $317+ million.
Mr. Metz was part of the start-up team and serves on the Board of Directors of Guia Qual, a joint venture real estate publication in Brazil. He also helped create the company's DistribuTech division, the leading distributor of free publications in the United States.
Mr. Metz has a degree in business from the University of Michigan. He is known for his commitment to children's groups, including acting as a Big Brother for six years, serving on the Board of the Big Brothers program, and coaching various children's sports teams. He is married with two children and lives in Atlanta. |
